Manual Therapy
Specialized manual techniques to relieve pain and restore movement.
About the treatment
Manual therapy uses hands-on techniques for joint mobilization, spinal manipulation and soft tissue release. Evidence-based, it is highly effective for acute and chronic pain, improving mobility and quality of life.
What is it?
Manual therapy is a physiotherapy approach that uses exclusively the therapist's hands to assess and treat musculoskeletal dysfunctions. It includes techniques such as joint mobilization, spinal manipulation, myofascial release and neural mobilization. It is internationally recognized as one of the most effective techniques for musculoskeletal pain.
Who is it for?
Recommended for patients with cervical and low back pain, tension headaches, joint blockages, post-immobilization stiffness, myofascial pain and mobility restrictions. Also widely used as a complement in sports and post-surgical rehabilitation.
How does the treatment work?
The physiotherapist performs a detailed assessment of joint mobility and soft tissues. Treatment involves mobilization techniques at different amplitude grades, high-velocity low-amplitude joint manipulations, myofascial release and neural mobilization. Each technique is selected according to the diagnosis.
Session duration and frequency
Sessions last 50 to 60 minutes. Results are often noticed after the first session. The complete treatment usually requires 4 to 10 sessions, at weekly or biweekly frequency.
Expected results
Immediate pain relief and improved mobility are common after the first session. Throughout treatment, gains are consolidated with complementary exercises. Manual therapy combined with therapeutic exercises produces the best long-term results.
